The Future (Inter)Network - Challenges and Paradigms
Prof. Dr. Lawrence Landweber (University of Wisconsin, US).
A great deal of effort is being devoted to predicting the network of the future. There is agreement that we can expect a world of ubiquitous high bandwidth connectivity, wireless and wired; a world where the collected knowledge of the human race is immediately accessible from anywhere; and a world where sensors will proliferate. But there are questions. What impact will the growth of social media have on how we communicate and relate to each other? Will the future network support individual privacy? Will it maintain the Internet's openness? Will it fix the Internet's many problems? Will it be the Internet or are potential paradigm shifts on the horizon? The talk will assess current trends and discuss their impact on the future network.
